Rung half muffled by a mainly local band in memory of Leslie Walker who sadly passed away on Friday 30th January 2009 at the age of 91. Leslie was Churchwarden here at St. Andrew’s for many years. He was a great supporter of the Church and a loyal member of the congregation.
Before the bells where rehung and augmented from three to six in 2004 Leslie would often chime the tenor before Services. He was also a great supporter of the Village sitting on many different village committees including the Christ Hospital Endowment.
The Quarter was rung immediately prior to the funeral service and afterwards a 480 of Grandsire Doubles was rung with the bells open.
The band wish to associate Ron Applewhite, local ringer with this Quarter. Ron had intended to ring but had to drop out due to ill health. Many thanks to Gerald for standing in at the last minute and to Graham Whittaker for coming over to ring after the funeral.
